the whole idea of sheltering kids from knowing they’re adopted is actually a terrible idea imo. i feel like it’d be so traumatizing to find out that who you thought was your biological parent was literally lying to you your entire life. if i ever adopted i’d definitely tell my kid that they’re adopted throughout their childhood, because that doesn’t change the fact that i take care of and love them, and would probably be easier to cope with if you’ve just grown up knowing you’re adopted. like finding out you’re adopted is always portrayed as super life shattering and i feel like it would be much less depressing if you just were used to it.
