DALLAS WINSTON IS NOT A GOOD PERSON!
He harasses girls. He breaks laws. He doesn't care about almost anyone. He's filled with a hate of himself and the world. None of this is good or healthy or desirable.
So why do I see so many fanfictions romanticizing these very qualities?
He's not some kind of teen romance bad boy. He's a damaged, flawed person who is terrible at love.
I get irritated when I see stories that iron out his flaws. And when people treat him like he's easily redeemable and ship their OC with him, it's degrading to both parties. It's sexist to make the OC helpless to his charms and it's stupid to make him be the dream boyfriend. He's a f*****g criminal, for God's sake! He's a self-proclaimed menace to society! Sylvia cheated on him for a reason, children.
Write a fanfic about Dally if you want. But make him human. Not Bad Boy Stereotype. Not Perfect Boyfriend. Not Swoon City with an inexplicable soft spot for our heroine who has done nothing to win his love except look pretty while getting beat up by Socs or another common plot like that.
!AND DON'T ERASE HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH JOHNNY EVEN IF YOU AREN'T WRITING JALLY!
Sorry. I don't mean to offend anyone. I was just feeling very salty about this topic at the moment and needed to rant about it somehow.
If I offended someone, please know it isn't a personal attack on you. It's a general thing about a lot of Wattpad books.
