As a biracial Pakistani, Nicola Mikhail has fought fiercely for where she is in life. When she receives the once in the lifetime chance to study abroad in France for her senior year in college, Nicola is beyond ecstatic.
Well, until she is given her senior project. Nicola has absolutely no idea what to research -that's until she accidentally sees a gang tattoo on the young mathematics professor, Mr. Victoire. Following him one day after school, Nicola uncovers who exactly Mr. Victoire is:

And so Nicola becomes Nico, the newest member of the gang, zéro heure under the supervision of gangbanger, V. But being an undercover journalism student in the middle of organized crime isn't exactly easy.
Nicola finds herself becoming more involved with the bloody nature of the gang than she foresaw and drifting closer to the ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, and incredibly intelligent, V, who proves to have many more layers than the ones on the surface.
