Cold Reflections got a double update today with the chapters Darkness in the Blizzard and A Fairy Makes Breakfast. I got to introduce some fun new characters this week, and I really enjoyed working on the second chapter. I hope you'll take the chance to check it out.

Round one of ONC is over, and we're on to the next mile marker in my favorite time of year. Cold Reflections is at 15K words, and I'm feeling good about my progress.
For all of my friends working on their novellas, my best advice is this: Make every chapter leave an impact. Something should drive your story forward. When you have a limited word count and you must tell a story quickly, you cannot linger unless something is really important. If the chapter feels slow to you, it will to a reader too. Mix it up. Have fun.
But what do I know? I wrote an epic poem this week for my book because I read a little too much Tolkien, and my brain couldn't stop singing and rhyming.
Enjoy the story! Writing shouldn't be a chore. And support your friends! I challenge you to read at least one new novella this week. And don't forget to write.

Hi friends!! ONC has arrived, and I'm doing my best with some setbacks. I'm currently working a night job, and my laptop is broken, which means I've lost access to all my word processing/graphics software, but I'm attempting to make this work. Typing up this novella will be a combination of borrowing my husband's laptop (when he's not doing PhD work) and typing on my phone (ugh). I hope no one else is having technical difficulties like I am. Let me know if you're excited for ONC and if you want me to read your first 2000. Good luck to everyone!
@AuthorESElias that's a great tip about a keyboard. I'll take a look at your novella. I liked that prompt, but I ultimately went with a different one.
@eliana_elf I'm so sorry to hear about your laptop, that's so frustrating. Been there, done that. I do have a trick for typing on your phone, provided you have these things: If you have an external keyboard (wired or wireless) and a USB multi-hub or even a cable that converts the USB to whatever type of phone charger you have (most likely Type-C?) you can use the keyboard on your phone in place the of touch-screen. It sounds silly, I know, but I've done it when I couldn't get to my PC. I'm not having any tech issues anymore. All thru January, our house internet was not working and we had to order a new connection cable three times before we actually got one(some stores just would ship it to us). It arrived the day after the prompts went live, so I didn't have to use my crappy phone-hotspot. Nothing loads on that. I almost wasn't going to participate this year. Last year, the prompts were good, but they didn't exceed the ones from 2024. But this year's are fantastic. I don't have my first 2k all the way posted yet, but Chapter 1 in my sci-fi romcom is up. ♥ its based on prompt 25. You live with four other housemates, but one of them is secretly an alien trying to learn how to act human. Think New Girl meets Resident Alien, kinda.
@eliana_elf I have actually looked at the prompts. It's just that I'm currently in uni and I've been busy with school work. But I'll try to come up with something.. at least before the deadline for round one. Thank you ❤️

I'm a Shorty's Winner!!! It's nice to receive recognition for my writing, and I got a really cool sticker. Maybe I'll write an epilogue for the Vampire's Ex to celebrate. Until then, on to the next project.

WOW!! I made The Shorty's Short list. I think The Vampire's Ex is the best thing I've written in 2025. If you're interested in my story involving a vampire mafia, an old lost flame, and sparks of something new, check it out. It's a quick 3-part read that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Also, if you've noticed that I haven't been updating my other books, I've been really discouraged with my engagement levels on Wattpad. I don't feel like anyone is reading my books, which is making me unmotivated to put out content. I think maybe one person has read the Vampire's Ex other than Shorty's judges. It's hard to keep moving forward when I struggle to connect with others.
We'll see where this goes, or I may take a longer leave of absence. I truly love it here on Wattpad, but I'm not sure it's helping me anymore. I hope you'll enjoy The Vampire's Ex, and if not, send extra encouragement to your favorite author this week. I think we all need it.
