can we talk abt something real quick? nothing serious, but i just want to talk about how max really thought about lucas in the book, (runaway may). this paragraph, (i’ll put it in a sec), shows how she not only thought about him, but showed how she really started to develop a crush on him.
“it felt weird to be walking down the hall with a boy. a nice boy, with a wide, earnest smile and clean hands. i wasn’t gonna be all giddy and ridiculous about it, though. back home i was always hanging around the halls with nate, or else ben and eddie. walking with lucas felt different.”
WALKING WITH LUCAS FELT DIFFERENT. LETS TALK ABT THIS. i finished this book about two years ago in june of 2022, and i still can’t get over it. (same thing w rebel robin). the fact that she noticed that it felt different to be walking w someone other than her old friends from cali is just amazing to me. and the part where it says that she didn’t want to be all giddy and ridiculous about it shows just how much he really had started to grow on her, and her development of having a crush on him.
she mentioned the fact that he had an earnest smile and clean hands, and her noticing that from her friends is actually insane. i guess someone could notice that, but i don’t think anyone would like to take the time and notice that, but max. max and lucas grow throughout the book and it makes me realize how deep their love for each other actually is and i’m here for it.
max and lucas are each others soulmates, no matter the small stupid fights and arguments they get into. i love them and forever will.
