@ emeraldjoestar  maybe this: the reader was part of the crusaders and fell in love with Polnareff but didn't had the courage to tell him, even when he went back to France. Years later the reader meets him in Italy again and falls in love all over again

          	  the crew, Polnareff and his boys, could be on the mission to find dio but get stoped from a stand but it dosen't include Polnareff so he could be hanging out with the reader temporarily. 
          	  
          	  or maybe Polnareff just left to go back to france and the reader has a meet cute there and the story progresses. 
          	  
          	  or maybe the reader joins the crusaders and falls in love with Polnareff allong the way
          	  
          	  just a few ideas tho
