            "You didn't trust me," Jungkook repeated, tears slipping again.
            "I kept saying I didn't do it, and you—"
            
            "I know," Taehyung whispered.
            "Jungkook. I know."
            
            Jungkook wiped at his eyes again, frustrated.
            "Do you know what it feels like? To be blamed for something you didn't do? To see everyone—literally everyone—look at you like a criminal while the person who—"
            
            His voice broke.
            
            "—the person who mattered the most… stood on the other side?"
            
            Taehyung inhaled sharply.
            
            Jungkook continued, barely breathing between words now.
            
            "I would've trusted you even if the whole world said otherwise. Even if the evidence looked bad. Even if logic didn't make sense. I still would've believed you. But you—"
            
            He shook his head.
            
            "You didn't do that for me."
            
            Taehyung didn't defend himself , he just went on to say 
            
            "I almost lost everything. The merger. My reputation. My company."
            A breath.
            "But none of that terrified me as much as losing you."

            “We can’t work like this,” Taehyung said finally. “Not if you keep—”
            
            “Keep what?”
            
            “Looking at me like that,” Taehyung snapped.
            
            Jungkook’s brows lifted. “Like what?”
            
            “Like…” Taehyung exhaled, frustrated.
            “Like you’re waiting for something to happen.”
            
            Jungkook didn’t move for a long moment.
            
            Then, quietly:
            
            “Maybe I am.”
            
            Taehyung’s breath caught. Not dramatically. Not visibly.
            But enough to make him step back again.
            
            “This isn’t a joke,” Taehyung whispered.
            
            “I’m not joking.”
            
            “You’re not supposed to be looking at me like that.”
            
            Jungkook tilted his head.
            “And you’re not supposed to care how I look at you.”
