Some of the best landmarks of the Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia include the Old city, surrounded by the remains of city walls and medieval towers, Grajski trg square with a castle, a museum and a baroque statue of St. Florian, Slomškov trg with its cathedral, Glavni trg with City Hall and the plague column, several churches, university, Stara trta (the oldest vine in the world) and one of the oldest and largest wine cellars in Europe. The town is surrounded by many hills and vineyards.
Another four natural monuments- Lake Bohinj is the deepest lake in our country but not so visited as Lake Bled though they're equally beautiful. Lake and its souroundings are ofthen called God's Paradise. The most visited and the most romantic place in its vicinity is Savica waterfall.
In the south-west of Slovenia, in the Karst region there is a stunning system caves, including Škocjan caves and a little more famous part Postojna caves. They're both on the list of UNESCO's World Heritage List. 9 km from the Postojna caves there is Predjama Castle, built in the rock above the village of Predjama.
