i know I didn't explain it well, but in my head Noah has always liked Riley and she hurt him a lot for years cause she wasn't interested in him at all, instead she was interested in Cam and so when he left school he met people (that other girl he was talking too at the end) who helped him pretend he was still in love and get her to be in love with him too so he could break her heart just like she did too him a few years back.
