DARKNESS
A single matchstick
Is all it takes
To brighten a chaotic dark;
But it takes nothing
For the darkness to feed on
And consume our fear.
In all of our eyes
Is a tiny bit of light,
Big enough to see.
In all of our eyes
The pupil's darkness is void;
Central to all light.
Man created fire
And he brought light to the Earth
To fill night's darkness.
The man who knows fire
Gains a fear of the unknown:
The darkness he forgets.
There is no darkness
Without light.
To see darkness
You must have sight:
Light.
FALLING
The worst part of falling
Is not when you hit the bottom
Not getting back up after the fall.
Not when you have to let go.
Not when you have to move on.
The worst part about falling
Is knowing that you're slipping.
Knowing that you're slipping, deep down
Into a pit of demons and despair.
Knowing that you're breaking.
Knowing that you will be held hostage
By the devil inside you.
Knowing that you need help,
But when you finally cry out,
No one is the to save you.
And you just have to allow yourself to fall.
HIS DEMONS
God, he was so beautiful.
His smile would light up the sky.
His eyes sparkling like water.
Until the smile faded.
Happiness traded for worry.
The shine in his eyes became teary.
And to see him lying there,
A victim of his own demise.
His own monsters, the demon inside.
Is this what was meant to be?
What he used to have, who he was,
Traded for this,
This goddamned cruel irony.
