The nine-tailed fox, was the strongest and bravest animal. As a kit, he was born with but one tail. He was weak and small, vulnerable to all of the other animals.
But after every hardship the fox endured, every success, a new tail would grow. The fox grew stronger and stronger with every tail, until toward the end of the beginning of his long life, he grew his ninth tail. And his offspring where told, Once they grew their ninth tail, they would be the strongest of anyone. And in legend only one had surpassed the great kyūbi no kitsune , and grew a tenth tail .
