SHE FED RARELY——NOT OUT OF DISCIPLINE, BUT OUT OF A GNAWING, UNKILLABLE GUILT THAT MADE HER TREAT HUNGER LIKE A SIN TO BE ENDURED. SHE STARVED HERSELF AS A KIND OF PENANCE, BELIEVING AUSTERITY MIGHT ABSOLVE HER, BUT WHEN THIRST FINALLY SLIPPED PAST HER RESTRAINT, IT REMADE HER ENTIRELY. THE FIRST DROP ON HER TONGUE WAS ALWAYS HER UNDOING: SHE BECAME A STORM IN SILK, A RAPTURE TURNED VIOLENT, DRINKING WITH A FEROCITY THAT MOCKED HER USUAL ELEGANCE. SHE DID NOT SIMPLY FEED——SHE DISMANTLED. BODIES CAME APART BENEATH HER HANDS AS DELICATELY AS PETALS PLUCKED FROM A FLOWER, THE ARIA OF HER HUNGER RISING INTO A SAVAGE CRESCENDO THAT ENDED, INEVITABLY, IN THAT FINAL, BRUTAL NOTE: THE CLEAN SEVERING OF A HEAD, A TERRIBLE PUNCTUATION MARK TO HER FRENZY. HER MERCY LAY ONLY IN AVOIDANCE; HER VIOLENCE BLOOMED SOLELY IN NEED.

“ THEY SAY KATRINE DE SÉVERAC, A NOBLE MAIDEN WITH A VOICE LIKE NO OTHER, WAS SLAIN BY ENVY——BUT DEATH COULD NOT CLAIM HER. PALE AND TERRIBLE, SHE ROSE, HAUNTING THE STREETS WITH HER WRATH AND HER SONG. VILLAGERS WHISPER OF HER PRESENCE IN THE NIGHT, BEAUTY MASKING A HEART OF VENGEANCE, LEAVING RUIN AND SICKNESS WHEREVER SHE TREADS——FRANCE’S OWN DARK LEGEND, RIVALING EVEN THE TALES OF BATHORY. ” yet it was all a lie. 1816 ━━ 1835,, KATRINE DE SÉVERAC, or known as KATHERINE BOURGEOIS.

“You don’t belong here — I suggest you leave.”

Her expression did not shift—no flicker of irritation, no trace of restraint slipping. She met the vampire’s words with a steady, unblinking stare, posture rigid and composed as stone.

“Then leave,” she said plainly, her voice flat, stripped of anything resembling interest. “You overestimate your presence.”

Her hand lowered slightly at her side, not relaxed, but ready—every movement controlled, deliberate. There was no need to advance, no need to provoke. If the vampire wanted a fight, she would make the first mistake.

“And if you don’t,” she added, tone unchanged, “you’ll find I’m far less concerned with your boredom than you are.”

@FANGEDFXCK if you and were the same, you’d be much more dangerous. but i suppose that while we share the same condition, we don’t share standards.

dochvolka

@fatalefang no, i insist. i have many more scarves—to many. please. [wolfram hardly waited for a response whether permission or not. gloved hands are working; undoing the right faux (or so she hoped) fur of her scarf, cold air hitting the skin kept warm by her neck, fixing it around the stranger’s shoulders] there

@santoire that’s kind of you to offer, but i couldn’t possibly take it from you. i assure you that i am more than able to survive the cold.

eadimidium

[ julia studies the piece of art beside her, hands in her coats’ pockets. she soaks in the information provided from the other in one ear. a beat of silence passes. her head tilts to the side slightly, then upright again. ] hm. ( .. ) she is beautiful.

you stormed in unannounced, again.

fatalefang

@ivampsuckyerblood mm, a call would not suffice for what information i have to relay. your son——is very much alive. a shell, maybe, but alive nonetheless. in case you weren’t already aware.

@ivampsuckyerblood perhaps invest in locks then——well, more durable ones.
