I am a recently retired science teacher, who has travelled widely working in various industrial jobs -from making batteries in Zaire to implementing software for a bank in the Urals.
I enjoy many adventure fiction books, especially ones with foreign locations.
Some of my favourite books are (not all adventure stories) alphabetically:
Ronan Bennett- The Catastrophist & Zugzwang
Tim Butcher- Blood River
John Buchan -39 Steps
William Boyd - Restless (and many others)
Albert Camus - The Outsider, The Plague and his short stories (Exile and Kingdom)
Martin Davies -The Conjurer's Bird
Robert Harris- Imperium (and many others)
Khaled Hosseini- The Kite Runner
Anna McGrail - Mrs Einstein
Daphne Du Maurier- Jamaica Inn
VS Naipul- The Suffrage of Elvira, A Bend in the River, The Mystic Masseur
Leo Tolstoy- War & Peace
George Orwell - Down and Out in Paris and London, Burmese Days, Animal Farm, and many others.
Boris Pasternak - Dr. Zhivago
Plus many others.
