I do hope you continue to write your second book, as I don't want Abbys story to end. I am almost at the end of book one and until you complete your second book, I will have to hold my breath and hope you do get back to writing your stories.

@fallenbutterfly-81 Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment, it really means a lot. First of all, the project is still very much alive, although it has been a hot minute! To explain why, the first reason is just the amount of writing I am putting into my business right now with content marketing, LinkedIn, etc. Working 'On' my real business has become as time-consuming as working 'in' the business but I feel I need to scale up my marketing into order to have a consistent pipeline so that I have the security to do things like writing. And you know, eat! The second reason is the book itself. While I am happy with the first book, given that it was my first time writing, in hindsight, one of the things I feel I didn't touch on enough was the religious abuse angle with her family and upbringing. Over the past weeks, as I've been busy with the first point, I've been stewing over how to handle this. I could rewrite book one (time-consuming), or I could inject flashbacks and tie into current events in book 2, but that would mean redoing the outline (both book two and book three are fully plotted out, and then there is Madeleine's trilogy!) Tweaking the second book is where my mind is, but I'm not entirely sure yet how best to do it while also continuing the journey I have for Abby. That's why there has been a bit of a delay in releasing more of Book 2. But I am very glad you liked the first book (new writer warts and all!) and you've given me a nudge to put my head down and figure out where I am going to take the story.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to give you all a quick update since the last chapter. The next three chapters are drafted and sent to a beta reader. I hope to get their feedback today, and then I'll start the final editing, so they should all be released over the next week.
I'm excited to have you all read them now that we are starting to reveal some of the subplots planned for this book, some of which will carry over into Book 3!

Hello everyone,
Today's release of chapter 9 puts Abby 2 just over halfway through Act I. Fun fact: Chapter 9 concluded Act I in the first book.
I know some of these chapters have been slower in parts. For instance, in chapter 3, Abby could perhaps have done her reflection with Mandy, making it more interesting. I needed to set up the coming conflict (which should be obvious now) and show her growing openness to experience to make things later in the book (and book 3) make more sense.
I may change the pacing in a rewrite of the first nine chapters, but going forward, there will be a lot more dialogue in all the chapters, which should pick up the pace. There are some characters to introduce, new subplots to kick off (something that wasn't featured in Abby I), short scenes from Abby's childhood diving into the depth of the influence of the church and parents on her life, and, of course, lots of conflict as she continues her personal journey.

Hello all! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and are doing well. I know I haven't been as fast with the chapters as in the past, and I wanted to give a little glimpse into my world this summer so you all know I haven't abandoned the book at all!
First up is r/l work. In my day job, I am an independent consultant. Things have slowed down a little this summer with some projects wrapping up, but that, unfortunately, means I need to spend a lot of my spare time networking, writing proposals, etc. I would love it if I could just write full-time, but I still, unfortunately, need to eat!
The second thing that has been taking up my time is my dog. He's almost 12 and nearing the end due to some health issues. I spend a lot of free evening time with him, just being there with him, even though he is not so mobile anymore.
I actually had the next chapter almost done and decided to rewrite it to fit better with the story's trajectory. It's still a smutty chapter for sure, but I decided to change how it played out to better play with (pun intended!) a key scene that will be coming in a few chapters down the road.
So that's a bit of an update on why things have been a little slower getting written over the past few weeks. But the next chapter is up, and another will follow tomorrow.
