It's sad what people are willing to do so they are publicly talked about.  popularity means so much to people that they will ruin reputations just to have 10 seconds of fame. The saddest part about that is the people who fail with trying to become known, is the victims aren't recognized. Their lives are ruined for the sake of someone else have 80 more people know they exist, but nobody even knows that. Because the asshole who tried to become something failed at their goal. They've made someone suffer and don't even acknowledge that because they are to focused on themselves.
