✷ i’m sooo tempted to write a homelander x fem! oc fic inspired by “all up in your mind” by beyoncé. it’s such a good song and it’s def giving homelander vibes imo

✷ currently thinking about a ted lasso fic i had in my drafts. in it, my deaf oc joins the team as a coach to work alongside ted, to interpret for a new male team member (my oc as well) who’s also deaf. over time, ted learns sign language for both of them but also eventually falls in love with her…

@filmsbykelso no worries at all! If you do publish that fic, let me know because I’d be down to read it!

✷ guess who’s writing a back to the future fic? (marty’s the love interest <3 he’s so cute and i luv him. i couldn’t resist making a fic)… i’m also considering doing a “the boys” fic… (sadly, i’m thinking of making homelander the love interest but who knows!)

ik a lot of you are expecting updates from my other books, but i can’t resist writing new stuff. however, i will try to update the books just for you guys!

✷ i believe the person that told me this blocked me here, but i’ll put the topic up for debate anyway. is it disrespectful to use a deceased actor as a face claim for an oc? i’m open to learn why it might be considered disrespectful because i genuinely don’t understand how it could be. i’ve seen other writers do it, and it doesn’t mean anything negative to me — quite the opposite. so, if anyone could kindly explain why it could be disrespectful, instead of blocking me, i’d appreciate it!!!

I don't think it's disrespectful! I work in deathcare and we have a few people come by our cemetery to find the names of the deceased on headstones to use in books and stuff, as well as drawing their photos for face references if they have a photo on their monument. I think if you're using it in a way that isn't in some form making a mockery of their passing/life - In my opinion, it's fine. People pass away but if we use their photos, their names, and their history it's a way to honor them and the life they lived

in my personal opinion, i don’t believe it is disrespectful as long as you’re not portraying them in a negative light (unless they were an awful person to begin with then, you do you) but i’ve seen hundreds of people use jonathan brandis as a faceclaim for their ocs or to recast someone, or angus cloud, etc! so i think it’s perfectly fine!

to me, I don't see it as disrespectful? I mean, they were an actor, but I could see both sides. The thing is though, their media still lives on. It was their legacy. I'm sure they would be proud to keep living on and making people happy?? I guess it depends on *why* you're using them and how.

hey, so I know you're aware that naya rivera has passed but I just want to say how disrespectful it is to use her as a faceclaim still and it might better to recast her. perhaps i could help you search for someone else?

filmsbykelso

hello! this is the first time anyone has told me anything about it. i’ve truly never found a problem with using actors who’ve passed away for a fc, i’m pretty sure it’s common within the writing community. however, i do appreciate ur observation! although i don’t think i won’t be changing her (for now) i am interested in which options you could suggest as a potential replacement <3
