I think now is a good time to state that I do not condone the use of AI, especially when used to “create”. Not only is it extremely harmful to the environment, but it also sucks all of the joy out of the writing process, leaving only a bland and weak recreation.
Writing is such a special outlet and space in my life. It has played such in important role throughout, and despite the *endless* times that writer’s block and other obstacles have gotten in my way, I have never—nor will I ever—use AI.
For me, the joy of writing comes from the effort exerted. The hours spent researching synonyms in hopes of finding that one, unique word that you’re looking for. The new worlds and people you create in your mind. The excitement when you share your hard work with others. That is all taken away when you use AI to fabricate that process, especially when you attempt to pass it off as your own.
I understand the topic of AI is a nuanced one, but in terms of its usage in this space, I ask: What is the point in creative outlets when they are entirely manufactured?
