/ perry's parents have been overprotective of him since he was very young . he is their only child so that was their excuse to coddle him growing up . he got some independence at age seventeen and eighteen . at twenty and twenty one he was doing his own thing despite living with them still ( he was a lot more independent and free ) . he had to fight for his independence though , and prove to them that he would be sensible and mature enough to go and do things alone .
