sometimes I see people on twitter posting out of context clips from the phantom menace - usually the duel of the fates sequence - with a caption that says something like 'audiences in 1999 really looked and this and said it was garbage'. i feel like these people do not grasp that this scene is right at the end of the film and is preceded by an hour and a half of absolute unwatchable dogshit

just once i would love if people could take cues from literally any other body horror movie or piece of literature, because trust me it's a vast genre. like have you not even seen the rest of cronenberg's filmography? akira? tetsuo the iron man? american mary? i would even take tusk at this point
