Good news! Good news! I'm excited to share that I successfully completed NaNoWriMo 2024, with a total of 51k words written this month.

I haven't attempted NaNo since 2021, when I wrote Clash of Captains, but I set a smaller goal then — just 35k words, which I succeeded in writing.

However, this is the first year I've successfully completed the full goal of 50k and I'm very pleased with my progress.

There were a few days I didn't reach a thousand words. There were a few days where it felt like a chore to write. But I still found the time, no matter how short, to write each and every day of this month. That's 30 days in a row working on the same project!

And to that I say... Yippee, I did it!

P.S. I'm not sure as of now if I'll share this story here on Wattpad. But I do know I'll be doing a lot of editing before it's ready to be published, here or elsewhere ;)

As of this afternoon, I've written 75% of my 50k NaNoWriMo goal! It's been hard work, but we're nearing the home stretch. I promised myself I'd see it through this year—and I'm feeling hopeful about my progress thus far. Best of luck to everyone else finishing up their projects!

Hello friends! Thanks for sticking with me despite my lack of activity.

I haven't written anything in so long... But not due to a lack of ideas! On the contrary, I've got several stories I've been working on planning/plotting—one of which is basically fully planned out.

The problem lies in my inspiration to actually write. I've felt a complete lack of willpower to get started on any of my projects. How do you find the motivation to start writing?

Loiosh

@flaxen-finch If you need to just get back on the writing horse, maybe write something small, say 500 words, just to get into the flow. Or maybe making a "writing playlist" full of music to keep you upbeat and typing. Hell, take a writing sabbatical some weekend and take a laptop to a park or something just to get a change of scenery and see if it helps. Like here, I've thought about going to Disney and sitting there and writing while relaxing in one of their restaurants since they have Wi-Fi. Maybe you could find something similar at a local Panera, Starbucks, or other Wi-Fi friendly place?

I'm beyond excited to share my final update for ONC 2024: The Mermaid's Reckoning earned an honorable mention!

What an incredible journey this has been. TMR started off as a "joke" project that I didn't expect to get far with—but I'm so glad I was wrong and chose to follow my gut in developing it further. This story has come to mean a lot to me, and I'm so grateful to those who have followed along and shown me support along the way!

Congratulations to the contest winners, my fellow honorable mentions, and everyone else who has attempted ONC this year! It's been fun, and I hope to write with you all again next year :)

Hello all! I just came on here to excitedly share that both of my ONC 2024 entries, The Mermaid's Reckoning and A Second Verse, have made it to the contest's Shortlist! This is my first year submitting to ONC and I'm beyond pleased to have made it this far—though it took a lot of work to get here! Much love to the fellow contestants, and best of luck as we go into the final placings!

P.S. Feel free to check out my entries and decide for yourself if they're winner-worthy ;)

@flaxen-finch Woo hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Congrats! I'm glad you took the chance and entered.

Hello everyone! I'm pleased to share that I've successfully finished and submitted both of my ONC entries to the third and final round of the contest! The Mermaid's Reckoning has a final word count of just over 31,000 words, while A Second Verse has just over 29,000. I'm beyond proud (and relieved) to have finished them in time! (Also, I wrote 60,000 words within the span of a few months? That's actually insane).

I'll be stepping back to take a breather while I wait for the results to come out, and I don't have any future projects in the works as of now. In the meantime, thank you all for your continued support, best of luck to other contestants, and props to those who have stuck it out this far or attempted the contest in the first place! It's been tough, but I'm proud to have been a part of it.

ICYMI: The Mermaid's Reckoning is now complete! I'll wait a day or two to submit the final product to the contest; in the meantime, please do let me know if you see any mistakes or find anything confusing! I'll be doing some proofreading on my own but it's never a bad idea to have some extra sets of eyes looking it over.

I'm going to continue to write A Second Verse in the hopes I'll be able to finish it before the final deadline. If not, I'll continue to share it with you all either way!

Thank you all for your continued support!
