I was always freaky 

A compelling story? Well first things first, base the story on whatever interests you most. I’ve learned that whenever I write something that I’m not too invested in the story comes out basic or too plain. I recommend adding elements of humor as it gives the story a bit of extra character. Make sure your characters are on point, but don’t be too strict. I also recommend using a bit of advanced vocabulary and figurative language as it gives your writing a bit of depth to it.
