ji – hu knows now that it had all been a childish dream  —  that didn't stop him from the ever growing pain of being alone.  it was just him and his lyrics again  —  lyrics he didn't want to give away because   /  he  /   wanted to sing them.  they were his for a reason  ,  right?
            
            they were all he had left.  he needed them.  he didn't know what he'd do if they were gone.
            
            ji – hu is still working towards becoming an idol.  he wants this  ,  even if he's not getting it in the way he had been imagining.  now he trained alone  —  forced himself to keep going.  there was no one to pick him up if he fell anymore.  he didn't have   /  time  /   to stumble.
            
            if he fell  ,  he was scared he wouldn't even try to get up.
            
            then he met a  ..  honestly  ,  he didn't know what he was looking at to begin with.  a human?  ..  with wings.  and a tail.  odd.
            
            but he was lost  —  just like ji – hu was.  maybe even worse  ,  considering this guy was claiming to be an entirely different species from a totally different realm.  it would seem like nonsense if he didn't see the  ..  wings  ,  tail  —  decidedly not human traits.
            
            plus  ,  what did he have to lose?  all he had was himself.  maybe  ,  just maybe  ,  they could help each other.

résumé  :   backstory
            
            ji – hu had never planned to fight for the spotlight.  he hadn't originally had the confidence to even   /  think  /   that he had a chance at such a thing.  it was easier to consider himself a cog in a much larger machine than himself.  things flow better if he's there  ,  but the entirety of the vessel won't break without him.  he had liked that.  that was easy.
            
            he had started off as a lyricist.  that was his way of providing to the thing he loved  —  music.  if his lyrics were heard even once  ,  then he would be set for life.  
            
            but while he had a few offers  ,  none of them felt  ..  right.  selling his lyrics felt like selling a piece of himself.  he hated not knowing who they were going to or how they were going to be altered.  it felt almost  ..  vulnerable.  
            
            it had been at the suggestion of his manager that he started to even consider becoming an idol.  not to truly be one  ,  but to get his name out there.  perhaps he just wasn't content selling his words to smaller labels.  that seemed reasonable enough.
            
            then he met someone  —  someone who quickly became his everything.  they started together  ,  trained together  ,  and kept each other going.  something that had originally felt like a means to an end was soon something he started to genuinely put effort into.  he had made a promise after all  —  the two of them were going to debut together.  
            
            that didn't happen.  his friend  ..  more than a friend?  he didn't know anymore  ,  but it didn't really matter.  he was gone  —  he left ji – hu behind.  alone  ,  the same as he had been before.  he watched as someone he held so dear to himself warped their relationship.  he watched as he was erased from the memories of someone he thought he would spend forever with.
