[ long post ahead ]

          dear readers,

it's my third year anniversary of being on wattpad. never thought i'd make it here but here we are. ever since i started, my journey has just been an upward one and i'm infinitely grateful for that.

a HUGE thank you to everyone who has clicked on my book and given it a try. nine year old me, who began trying her hand at writing, wouldn't believe we have about 850+ readers in our community. to the dedicated group of readers who read everything i put out with lots of patience, special thanks to all of you.

to all the fellow authors part of this special, wonderful community, thank you for reading my stuff and kindly recommending them too! sending lots of love to all of you guys.

recently, i've been trying to take things slowly and give myself more room to breathe. in the recent past, i've always felt the urgent need to write something else the moment i've finished one work. that urgency often culminates in stories that are not fully thought out (and eventually get dropped) or stories that i don't feel satisfied with. along with this, i've also been overwhelmed by the urge to quit stories when they have slower reception. low engagement has not bothered me in the past but these days, my mind convinces me that a story with meager readership is not worth telling. any advice on how to fix this mindset?

apart from this, i finished my fifth novel BRIDE which i'm immensely proud of. if you haven't read it yet, go ahead and give it a try. as i'm trying to slow down my writing process and let it evolve with time, i can't make any promises about what's to come. hopefully, i can deliver on some promises i made earlier such as writing a murder mystery (not set in stone, but i have an idea and it's kind of working out).

thanks for being part of this community <3

          lots of love,
          sanjana

@galaxy-lane happy third anniversary! thank you so much for sharing your journey; your books are absolutely awesome <3 i am so glad i stumbled upon them. honestly, you're the only author whose books have made me like desi romance for the very first time (before finding your books, it just wasn't a genre I connected with at all), so a double thank you for that!

i noticed that you haven't received much advice on your recent struggle, so I jus wanted to share a perspective that's been really effective for me. it's very, very easy to fall into the trap of measuring your worth through metrics, especially in today's world, but what i did was actively detach my identity as a writer from the number of reads or votes i used to get, and try to define success by my own artistic growth and the sheer joy i find while writing. what i firmly believe is that the value of a story lies in the act of telling it and not in the no. of people that're watching you tell it. so if you're proud of the words youre putting on the page, that story's already a success. secondly, you might also consider treating your writing as a private garden instead of a public showroom, so like never letting the weather outside determine whether or not you keep tending to your plants. additionally, and this is the most imp point, give yourself space to breathe and step away from the keyboard to prevent burnout.

congrats on Bride, again! i love, love, loved it so much, i can't even put it into words. looking forward to seeing what you write next :) take your time, and keep breathing and writing.

            affectionately,
            s.

@galaxy-lane love your work. Keep writing. I would love to hear more of these opinions!

@daisyytrail exactly! maybe it's because of the algorithm or capitalistic marketing but everyone wants to be like the next person. while i love the idea of being inspired by another person, shaping your perspective on life to imitate theirs is never a gain, only a loss of individuality. thanks for reading!!
