This is just a personal rant, something I’ve been noticing and feeling lately, so I’m putting it out here. I’ve been seeing two things over the past few months that are starting to get to me, and it’s not aimed at any one specific author just a general observation from what I’ve seen with several authors. Galiyan dena allowed hai mujhe ( crying emojis)
1 RANT : I completely understand that authors have personal lives, emergencies can happen, and things don’t always go as planned. That’s human. But what I can’t respect is ghosting. Over the past few months, I’ve noticed a trend—many authors promise consistency, but then disappear for months without updates or communication. Some even delete their books without a word. And suddenly, they return, post chapters, and start demanding "THOUSANDS" of votes and comments. Then they rant about how readers don’t meet their ‘TARGETS.’ But let’s be real—it often goes the other way around.
2 RANT : Another thing I’ve been noticing over the past few months is that some authors keep saying, ‘Wattpad doesn’t pay us, so it’s my choice when and where I post my book’ (referring to other platforms like SS). And yes, that’s fair—it’s your book, your hard work, and your decision. No one denies that. But let’s also be real—while Wattpad may not be paying you directly, it is giving you loyal readers. Readers who wait, support, and build your audience with you. You generate your reader base here, and then those same people follow you to other platforms and pay for early chapters or full books. I’m also a paid reader for several authors, so saying ‘Wattpad gives us nothing’ isn’t completely true either.
