Update: I've held back on talking about the chapters I've posted from "How to Raise a Half-Orc", but I wanted to highlight chapter 12 in particular. It was easily the most difficult and challenging chapter to write of the entire book (thus far). Without spoiling too much, the main character - a bitter old hermit middle-elf - is finally confessing to his daughter why he knows the sword so well. To bolster its impact, I even talked with a Marine veteran about PTSD to more fully convey the old elf's traumatic recollection. Not sure if I succeeded, but I kinda liked how it turned out. I wanted it to be something more than a typical "lore dump". Hope you all think so to.
