            mark out of courtesy had his eyes covered , his hands went up in an instant . simon was right he did see a glimpse of it , and there was clear shame as mark took a step back , “ it’s okay . . i didn’t see much . “
            he didn’t know why simon wore the mask , but just because he didn’t understand didn’t mean mark would suddenly uncover his eyes and take a peek to get all the details . mark wanted simon to trust him and be able to confide in him , “ let me know when the mask is back on , okay ? i’m sorry i shouldn’t have just walked in without checking . “

            simon cursed lowly as he shoved his mask on.  he took a ragged breath  ,  mentally fighting back his panic.  "yeah  ,  sure  ,  y'didn't see my face which was right in front of'y"

            “ if it makes you feel better i think atom eve would’ve been way better at this than me , “ sure he was immune to bullets but she could put up whole barriers . he cleaned off the tweezers with relative ease , using his super speed to his advantage , he’d rather not keep someone like simon waiting .

"not used to people bein' immune to bullets."  he finished up the wrap  ,  sighing as he pulled his pants leg back down.  he was just glad it was a clean shot.  would've been a pain having to dig it out.  the one on his arm on the other hand  ..  simon stared at it before digging through the med kit again  ,  locating a set of tweezers.  "clean these off for me."  he ordered while holding them out to the other.  "  ..  can't promise this won't 'appen again  ,  but I'll try 'n get used to it."

            “ didn’t say i wasn’t appreciative , “ mark floated over , sitting next to the other man and leaning against his upper arm .
            “ i’m here to protect you , and i can’t do my job if you’re jumping in front of me first , “ it was a very roundabout way of expressing that mark felt horrible about ghost getting injured over the likes of him , it probably showed on his face .

            “ ha !  in a way you kinda are..  like an angel of d3ath of sorts .  ” he snickered , grinning like a full on fool with how the other’s grip tightened against his hips .  john liked the feeling of it , always loved feeling how close he could get to someone such as simon riley unlike anyone else .  “ simon..  ” he breathed right back , his expression changing as blue eyes bore into the other’s brown ones .  “ then have me  ,  riley .  haven’t i told you enough times that i’m yours ?  that’d do just about ANYTHIN’ for you ?  cause i mean it .  every..  single..  time .  ” he admitted , always would mean those words no matter what .  even as the scot desperately tried to breach the gap between them .  “ please ?  kiss me ?  ”

"  he murmured  ,  hands instinctively tightening their hold on the other.  as if afraid he would pull away.  scared he would be denied the respite that john was to him.  if john wanted to leave  ,  simon would let him without struggle  ,  but that didn't stop him from latching on right now.  "johnny  ..  "  he mumbled  ,  eyes slightly softening.  he leaned a bit closer but still didn't make contact.  just stared longingly and waited.  "  ..  I  —  "  he spoke quietly  ,  gaze slightly flicking away.  "  ..  want  ..  "  a huff.  he had never been good at saying these things.  " you.  I want  ..  you."

            john was well aware that his lieutenant was far from a weak man , he’s been serving alongside the other for what feels like years now and he’s seen first hand just how brutal ‘the ghost’ can be .  but right now ?  he wasn’t with ‘the ghost’ , he was with simon riley .  even through the man john knew that was still there , he was the only one who could pull that man back from the depths .  at least , aside from price maybe .  even then that dynamic didn’t have what ghost and soap have , what him and simon have .  “ what do you mean  ,  sir ?  i’m highly innocent .  ” there was a tinge of smugness hidden beneath his tone , eyes creased from how much he’d been grinning— especially as the other grabbed his hips and pulled him closer .  their bodies now flushed with one another .

            “ hm , “ mark’s smile only seemed to grow at that , he wouldn’t tell simon that he would’ve told him his name regardless of the answer . even though he’d have to work up more trust between them to see his face , mark considered this a good first step .
            “ mark’s my name , but y’know for obvious reasons call me invincible if i’m in the suit , “ he chuckled quietly .

            he shouldn't  ,  there was no reason to.  he had no obligation to tell the hero anything.  not knowing his name wouldn't affect his work  ,  his life.  he'd be able to live like normal even without it.  even so  ,  he found a curiosity settle in his mind.  a want  —  need to know.  a long exhale left his lips before he looked away.  an action that could be interpreted as him refusing the offer.  "simon."  he spoke after a few moments  ,  still refusing to look at the other.  "my name's simon."

            it was a little bit uncomfortable being stared at so hard , like every nook and cranny of his face was being analyzed and committed to memory . brown eyes shifted as he turned his head to look at the other man , the corner of his lips quirking up into an amused smirk , “ with how long you were staring , i’d like to think i’m slightly above ‘ anyone else ‘ . “
            with his eyes exposed it was clear the bravado of invincible was more of an act , his gaze had a softness to it and there were noticeable bags under his eyes , mark figured when the upper half of his face was covered he looked more threatening .
            “ tell me your name and i’ll tell you mine , “ mark couldn’t just sit back and let ghost get too much information without a little work .
