I am having trouble with a character. There are 2 lead characters who are interesting and becoming developed....but I need a second female lead.

So far she is too much of a blank slate. There are things I do know about her, but more that I don't.

I don't know just what to make of her yet. She has a quiet strength that will endure until she breaks. __She is more likely to cry than rage.

She has made herself out to be a total career woman, maybe a 'feminist' as an excuse to cover her real reasons for not looking for love of any gender.

She shies away from real relationships and does not date. She has work, & maybe activism, but little of personal substance in her life. Almost all of her relationships are distant or superficial; she has trust issues.

She is 'content' enough with her life; change would rock a good boat, so she didn't want it. Perhaps she didn't think happiness was in reach...not for her.

She learned that life is unfair and even those you love might not be there when you need them. But when it mattered most she SHE was the one who didn't give them a chance to let her down because she protected everyone but herself by remaining silent.

It's not nearly enough. I want a deeper, richer character about to endure dramatic changes not only in her life but in herself. I need more understanding of who she is and how the story will change her.
