@AilaniCarrillo dialogue is the hardest part sometimes! Usually, I start with thinking about the scene itself and what needs to be accomplished in that scene, so I know how to start and end. It’s mainly about paying attention to the characters’ voices, and then it starts to come natural to you. I originally watched the show back and made notes as I went, and when I started writing a scene from the show, I’ll watch it back and write out the dialogue first, then go back and actually write if that makes sense. A lot of time before, I would look up tips on writing dialogue, and also lots of lists that I could use for using words other than ‘said’.

@ghostley27 Hello so I'm an aspiring writer, and I've been making up my own stories for a long time now, but my problem is actually writing the story. I've tried to motivate myself to do it, but it's super hard for some reason. Anyways, I wanted to ask you how you figure out your dialogue. Figuring out a good way to write through third of first person, and what to add from the shows dialogue and when not to. (I hope I'm making sense, if not apologies.) And I also wanted to ask you how you write the dialogue from whatever show your basing your show on. Do you watch the show and pause it to get the dialogue as you go, or what lol.

GUYS IM THE WORST I’ve been so busy this past week I keep forgetting to update PWSL, but I PROMISE I’ll update today!!!

As a ploy for forgiveness, please accept another sneak peek for book 5 of the Fool’s Gold series:

          Josephine’s eyes fluttered open.

A figure sat beside her, dressed like he always had been—sun-faded shirt, crooked glasses, and that dumb leather satchel slung over his shoulder like he was still some kind of treasure-hunting cowboy.

          Big John.

His outline shimmered slightly, like a heat mirage, but he didn’t blur away.

“Bug,” he said again, soft and rough, like gravel wrapped in cotton. “Hey. Stay with me.”

Josephine’s throat burned. “I must be dying.”

He smiled faintly. “You might be.”

She huffed, or tried to. It came out more like a wheeze.

“Figures you’d show up now,” she muttered, her voice barely there. “After everything.”

Big John exhaled and looked down at the floor. “Yeah. I know.”

“You left us,” she whispered. “You left him.”

His eyes glistened. “I know that too.”

A long silence stretched between them. The kind that hurt more than the truth.

Josephine winced as she shifted, her body screaming in protest. “I’m so tired, Uncle John. It hurts. I can’t do this anymore.”

“Yes, you can,” he said gently. “You just don’t want to.”

She didn’t answer. She didn’t have to.

He looked at her for a long time before saying, “I know you blame me for all of it. For starting this. For dragging Bird into it. For chasing ghosts while the real world fell apart.”

“I don’t just blame you,” she rasped. “I kinda hate you for it.”

“I know,” he said, and he didn’t flinch. “And I’m sorry.”

          Josephine shut her eyes.

“I never meant for it to end up like this,” he continued. “But I see it now. You were right to be angry. You were right to carry it. But, Bug… this isn’t how your story ends.”

Hello, first of all, please forgive my terrible English — it’s not my native language — but I just had to tell you a few words. Girl, you are the best writer I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. You write so well, you’re so creative, your writing is full of detail, and oh my god, you deserve to have millions and millions of comments on your stories. I just finished JJ’s fourth book and I’m completely anxious for the next one. You are amazing.

Thank you so so so much! I’m so glad you love it!
