The best thing you can do is just start writing! Even if you’re not gonna publish it, the more you write the better you’ll get!
when you’re reading something you like ask yourself why you like it or what you’d change if you could, What’s the pov they’re writing in? What are you learning about the characters that you might not have before?
And showing instead of telling is a big one. For example don’t tell me she’s anxious or scared..ect instead tell me her hands are sweating, eyes darting around, maybe they’re nauseous.
A big thing I do when I’m re reading what I wrote is just take shit out, like asking myself does this sentence add anything to the readers experience or is it just there because I thought I needed more written. Look at the characters like real people, what are their flaws? What are their strengths, they shouldn’t be perfect. And try not to rush yourself or pressure yourself for perfection your writing will improve the more you do it!
