I just finished the first draft of the second chapter of the sequel to Scattered Pearls! It’s a much-needed conversation between Rosalie and Stefano. It’ll be live on patreon.com/glaswater next Friday, and I’ll use the time until then to polish it.

It was challenging to write, I had no idea what tone would fit this chapter best. Necessary scenes like this one are usually more demanding and less fun to write, as they lay the groundwork for the rest of the story, and they need to line up with what I’ve been imagining in my head. These are the things I gloss over in my world building when I daydream, since if I know, I know.

When I began working on this chapter a couple of weeks ago, I wanted Rosalie to be bratty and mean, I think I would have liked that, but I didn’t write it down completely, and every time I’ve wanted to work on the draft since then, I haven’t been able to capture that inspiration. I told myself I just needed to put in an hour today—come up with anything—and tadaa! I spent all day writing. It was slow and I didn’t achieve anything close to flow state, but I managed to have a chapter 80% ready for posting. It’s already quite raw, but I can add more detail and description.

I think I might manage to publish a Locked Fates chapter somewhere before next Friday. It’ll be an even more needed conversation between Giuliano and Joanna. Sigh.

SCATTERED PEARLS 2 IS ON A PATREON NEAR YOU!! I published the first chapter today, here’s an excerpt:

ROSALIE spent the week overwhelmed by her thoughts. Had she put too much trust in Stefano? What did she know about him? She had spent so much time with him since August, yet knew nothing about him. There was no more day partying, mind-blowing sex or sleep to keep her in altered states. Without everything that had kept her busy the previous year, Rosalie found herself with too much clarity to agonise over a life that shouldn't be hers. A life with a real job, a thing too similar to a commited relationship, her own apartment—

Rosalie needed to leave Italy. Could she be relocated? Did she even want to work for the Enterprises? Gaetano Formosi had bullied her into signing her contract, but she could quit, couldn't she? She didn’t need to keep a job she didn’t want, did she? Her dad wanted her to stay in Italy for the time being, but that didn’t mean she had to stay in Naples, did it?

A rapid knock on the door startled her out of her thoughts, pulling her back to her office.
'Is there a particular reason you've been avoiding me?' Stefano leaned against the doorpost, studying her appearance. She hadn't seen more than a few glimpses of him during the week and her eyes had been starved from the glorious view that was her—she still hated the term—boyfriend. His midnight blue suit accentuated the contrast between his pale skin, dark hair and saturated eyes.

'I wasn't avoiding you.' She had been avoiding him. It wasn't very hard, since Stefano hadn't been in Naples for most of the week, but she'd intentionally joined Lise' training when he would call. Their new relationship made her awkward, she had no idea of how to behave.

'Of course you weren't,' he responded as Rosalie let him inside.

i’ve been sooo into historical/victorian/edwardian romance lately, i read about 100 books between december and march lmao. i will start on my own trilogy soon with black protagonists, i just need to finish Déstins Liées first.

but for my trilogy, think identity theft :)
