Hey guys, I just wanted to come on here and let you all know that my updates are gonna be pretty sporadic for the next couple weeks. I know they’re already pretty bad but I think it’s gonna be worse in the upcoming weeks because my mom is moving ten hours away and I’m gonna help her pack and move stuff into storage, so I’ll be busy! I’m sure that heated rivalry is good but I’m not watching it purely out of spite
@gloomisms i totally get not wanting to watch it. i felt the same way, especially cuz i feel like so many mlm shows get overhyped. i did eventually cave & watched it, & i personally loved the show (& the books). but i don’t like certain parts of the fandom. especially the people trying to make the actors sexuality their business. i think the show was good because it included an asian lead actor & it’s had a good impact with many people in sports feeling safe to come out (among other things). but i wish fandoms wouldn’t ruin the media they consume by being so toxic & obnoxious. i feel like this is happening more & more with shows & movies that are popular, the fandoms just ruin it. literally wish the internet did not exist sometimes.
@-voidbucky !!! THIS! So many queer shows that are more WLW centered never receive the kind of treatment that Heartstopper and Heated Rivarly received. It’s really frustrating for me as a queer woman to see only male centered shows being given attention because a lot of the shows main audience is people fetishizing the actors and the relationship between the leads. It makes very difficult for me to enjoy the show.

I definitely think part of my avoidance of it is how much it’s getting praised when there’s other queer shows that didn’t get the same attention like first blood on Netflix for example, and then with the queer shows that are given large fandoms, there’s a lot of lines being crossed by the fans like with heartstopper and kit conners being forced to come out and now people are encroaching upon the same weird behavior with heated rivalry
