Ebony is a stripper.
At the age of seventeen, her life fell apart.
Her fiance, who already hadn't been that good of a man, was sentenced to twenty years in prison, she gave birth to twins, she became a stripper, and her family disowned her. In that order.
If you knew all the details, you would see that none of this is her fault, she didn't choose the hand she was dealt, but she has no further control over anything that happens to her.
Now, nearly three years later, Ebony is no more on her feet than she was three years ago. If anything, she's worse off.
It's difficult to make a living off a stripper's salary. She lives in a tiny apartment with her boys and barely has the necessities to put food on the table. She's doing the best that she can and she knows it's not good enough, which leaves her feeling like a complete and utter failure.
And that does a lot to her mental health.
However, then she meets Luke.
Luciano Dante Rossi, better known as "Luke" comes off as a guy who has his entire life figured out. He's barely twenty and already running his own small business, with a family that adores him and girls always pining for his attention.
And to make everything worse, he's genuinely a good guy.
For anyone normal, Luke would seem like the perfect catch, and he really is, but Ebony has never prided herself on being normal.
For a girl with a nonexistent heart and a broken soul, Luke is her worst nightmare because he's determined to do something Ebony can't do anymore.
Love.

"You don't have to be afraid, babydoll," Luke breathed, his voice extremely soft as he gently cupped her face, running his thumb over her cheekbone. "I'm not going to run. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm in this for the long run," His lips stretched into the sweetest gentle smile. "We're in this together."
