cowboy carter aoty makes the most sense i fear. ttpd didnt feel like a put together era like taylor previous albums and aotys did because of the eras tour (even tho it was MY album of the year), brat was cute but too unserious with all the memes around it, and the rest of the albums never really stood a chance from a logical standpoint. it was always between billie and beyonce cuz they’re both grammy darlings. the win was a not exactly a consolation prize for beyonces previous snubs. cowboy carter broke records in the country scene, which is very white and male dominated. the fact that beyonce, a black woman, realized THEEEE biggest country album of the year is a great achievement. she helped bring black voices and discussions of the country genres black history to the forefront of pop cultures discourse. they would’ve been stupid not to award her after all that.

exactly!! i felt a bit for billie but people having breakdowns just because taylor didn't win is something I didn't even expect tbh. like up until last months most were saying if ttpd wins its rigged and suddenly? plus its not even like she has never won. and you're soo right about beyonce deserving this esp as black woman!! people keep forgetting the representation she brings and people losing their minds over it is v icky
