Everyone doing a R4R please be aware:
While these exchanges are advertised as friendly support from one writer to another, there's more to be mindful of.
1. Don't be afraid to let the person know they're dissing your work - some people become passive aggressive if they're conscious of their writing style.
2. If you're concealing your age as a minor (under 20/21 sorry but 18 doesn't mean you're old enough to understand things at the same level as a 21 year old and there's nothing can say that will change this fact), note that adults in the real world can tell when you're not an actual adult. It's clear with your reactions to specific things we adults take in stride, such as s*xual content and romance scenes. Truth will always out. Remember that.
Also stating that you are 'working' is a sure giveaway that you're a minor. We adults don't care. It's a given that everyone has a 'life' outside of this app. Only minors will see the need to flash that information around.
Remember that we exited in a world without technology so we know... Lol
3. Be prepared to be disappointed. Not everyone is as honest as you are. Some people become bored or regret agreeing to the exchange when the reality of the situation has dawned on them. Especially when they see that your ideas are novel compared to their mediocre ones.
4. Stick to your circle of friends. Safe is good!
5. Book clubs can be safer as there is a regulatory member, namely the host club member.
Stay safe kiddos!
