I learned to sail at a young age and developed a love for sailboats in Annapolis, Maryland. But I have spent my adult working life as a practicing family physician in northern Vermont.

With retirement came the opportunity to return full time to sailing. In Septemer, 2013, my wife, Carol, and I set sail on an eight-month journey as commander and captain of the 35 foot sloop, Luna.  Our voyage took us 4000 miles from our home on Lake Champlain in Vermont to Georgetown, Bahamas, and back. 

On the way, we discovered a slice of America hidden to most travelers. We visited the little waterway towns along the Intracoastal Waterway.We found an unfamiliar and lovely world in the Bahamas, culturally varied from north to south. Each stop along the way was an opportunity to reflect on the people, the scenery, the history, the economy, the culture we encountered.
