I have received some hateful and belittling feedback recently, so I want to be transparent about my creative process.
I am dyslexic.
I use ChatGPT as an assistive tool to help with editing, polishing, and creating visual elements, no differently than someone might use dictation software, an editor, or an illustrator.
The stories themselves, the characters, the emotions, and the direction all come from me.
I spend a great deal of time revising and refining each chapter because these worlds and characters matter deeply to me. Using support tools does not make me less of a writer. It makes storytelling accessible to me, just as adaptive tools make it possible for disabled athletes to compete without judgment. This is no different.
I don’t write for money. I’m not trying to become famous. I write because I enjoy it. Because I have ideas swirling in my head, and I share them because I thought someone else might enjoy them too. I don’t care whether you like or follow me. That isn’t why I’m here. Sharing my work was an act of bravery, an invitation into my headspace, for better or worse.
So if you don’t know the full story, please don’t assume. And if this approach isn’t something you’re comfortable with, I kindly ask that you choose not to read my work.
