after a week of constant comments on my tiktok edits ( that i delete but anyways. ) i’m finally voicing the issue.
people need to accept that fanfiction is an actual thing in this world, not some made up nonsense. i’ve been receiving disgusting hateful comments for most of my fics ( mostly my off campus ones ) since posting the edits. comments like ‘you idiots like to ruin everything bruh,’ to ‘ew fanfiction in 2026.’
yes, fanfiction in 2026, it’s not a fucking massive deal. same as whenever someone says “oh i write… *this*” and then get judgemental looks because you’re in your mid twenties. hunny buns, some of the books you’re reading and LOVING are literally fanfiction. same as whenever someone attacks somebody with the whole “ew, this isn’t a y/n based fic.” no, that’s correct, some authors don’t like reading y/n based fanfiction ( me included ) but i would never judge someone for that. me personally? i prefer oc names, that way i can fall in love with that character and the storyline, but like i said, that’s just a me thing.
HOWEVER, that’s not what this is about, it’s about the bullying and harassment us writers go through whenever we published new fics. or if someone doesn’t like the book they add it to lists ( like this isn’t necessary. you don’t like the book? okay fine, don’t read. but don’t put someone down for what they love to do. )
also people who don’t read the captions and be like, “she, he, they aren’t in the show.” like obviously… but get really nasty when someone explains things to them.
more importantly, someone is allowed to have different opinions then you, about something or a certain fandom, but that doesn’t mean to attack them. it’s wrong and unfair.
i will not apologise for being a girl with interests, and someone who enjoys writing original characters into shows/movies. go whinge somewhere else.
ANYWAYS, rant & vent done.
thanks for tuning it. ❤️
