So, this year, I'm joining ONC again. This time I'm presenting Indonesian (Javanese) folklore.
          
          Jailangkung is an Indonesian folk ritual to communicate with a dead spirit. It can be done with various tools, but in this story, I'm going to pick what was popular in my childhood: a drawing compass. We (including me) used to play it at school with my schoolmates just for fun. However, things could go wrong, and...you don't want to know the rest :))
          
          Two chapters are up, and I will let it sit until I hear the news about whether it passes the first round.

Here is the thing.
          
          If you want to be different and be praised by the universe because of it, it's not wrong. But once you step on other people's choices just to make your choice look better, that's not okay.
          
          That goes for writing.
          
          You want to be the next J.K Rowlings or a writer who brings something different yet manages to get attentions? Go agead! I'm rooting for you if you want to pursue that. But do not trash other tropes your fellow writers choose. Because instead of going forward, you'd be just busy criticizing other works and forget to work on your skills. Instead of busy avoiding what is popular and overused because you're too uptight for that, why can't you just be you?
          
          Focus on your own works. Not the works of others. Period.
