[he settles further into the log that he was against, crossing his arms over his chest and staring up at the starry sky.]   like.. she won’t go *anywhere* without makeup or her hair done—- refuses to, throws a tantrum when i try. love her, but man.. the amount of times she asked to come to meetings with me just to be late?   [he flicks his gaze over to katara, a hand moving to wave at the spot next to him.]   anyway, why are you up?

            [Katara couldn’t stop the laugh that slipped out at the mention of Azula snoring. Maybe it was the royal thing, or maybe Azula had just spent years acting like she was personally above basic human functions, but the mental image hit Katara harder than it should have.]
            Wait—Azula? As in your sister Azula? I’m sorry, I just always assumed she slept completely silent, like she scared her own breathing into behaving.

 ⠀⠀ i just figured someone could take watch.  (..)  oh, who am i kidding? your brother snores worse than my sister.

 ⠀⠀ [zuko stares at her face, not even daring to look at the sash that she tightened around her waist—- the one that contained her water that she would no doubt beat him with. he moves to stand directly opposite of her, his remaining brow attempting to furrow. he’s focused, his breathing is even and steady. the basics, which his uncle told him never to forget. he drops his hands, but not entirely. they hold in the air, his hands open. at least, for the moment.]   explain to me how it’s funny, i said i *don’t* have that belief.   [he emphasizes the same time flames are shot at katara, not quite a warning but it could be considered one.]

            [Katara's brows lifted in mock offense before an amused grin tugged at her lips. She rolled her shoulders, the loose white training clothes shifting with each fluid movement as she cinched the sash at her waist. Years of waterbending had left every motion controlled and deliberate, the lean definition in her arms and legs obvious as she stepped into a ready stance.] That's funny, coming from the guy who got knocked into a fountain the last time we sparred. And for the record, Zuko, the only reason Azula and I don't get along is because one of us thinks starting fights is a hobby... and it isn't me. Now stop trying to talk your way out of this and come prove you're not scared.

 ⠀⠀ i grew up with a prodigy of a sister, katara. unlike your brother, i have never had the belief women are weak in any capacity. i just—- you know what, *fine.* you’re looking at me like i burned your penguin.   [zuko grunts, standing up from his spot on the log and stretching his arms above his head. his fingers intwine, palms facing the sky.]   you are awful. i am surprised you and azula don’t get along better now that she is.. better.

            Katara listened quietly, the playful smile she'd worn moments ago softening into something more understanding. She hadn't expected the nickname to carry so much weight, and hearing the story behind it made her heart ache just a little. At his last comment, however, a laugh escaped her as she bumped his shoulder back.] Well... at least we can both agree "flameo hot man" is officially retired. Give me a little time, okay? I'll find something that's actually yours—and one you won't mind hearing from me. [She finished with a playful smile while pulling up her long tresses of brunette curls, and she began to finish cleaning the camp.] 

 ⠀⠀ [zuko is silent for a long moment as his hands still brush against the fabric of his shirt, all elegant and royal-like now—- only thanks to his recently claimed title.]   azula used it as a child because she couldn’t say my name, and then she used it to dehumanize me. thankfully, we are past that now, but.. that does not exactly mean i wish for you, or anyone else, to use it.   [he was fine with azula using it now—- she was not bent over backwards to destroy him now. they mended their relationship, but there are still those feelings of hurt tied in with the nickname. his shoulder is bumped, and a small smile dances across his lips.]   well, yours would certainly be better than “zuzu” and “flameo hot man,” so i’d be considerably happy with whatever you should land on.

            Katara's smile falters into something a bit more comforting as she slowly begins to bend a few of the droplets to assist the drying process.] I'm sorry—I've heard Azula use it and assumed it was a cute family name... [Her tone is sincere as she speaks, hues of ocean blue giving him an apologetic look.] But I'm sure I can make up a nickname you'll—partially—enjoy. [She teased playfully while nudging his shoulder]

 ⠀⠀ i don’t want to talk to you anymore,   [zuko huffs, a small amount of steam escapes his parted lips. he pulls his arms a little closer to his chest, but he doesn’t make a move to shove her legs off of him. it’s oddly comforting after the day he had, like a weighted blanket. his eyes focus on the television, ignoring his little sister now.]

( she throws up her hands in defense,  as if she truly did nothing wrong.  )  it’s  not  my  fault  !  and  it  was  only  fifteen  minutes,  zuzu,  don’t  be  dramatic.  (  quickly,  she plays the show,  hoping it would stop him from saying anything else.  ) 

 ⠀⠀ what the—- you made a big stink about me pulling up the show but *you* watched it?! you are such a hypocrite, zula.   [zuko’s only brow moves closer to the center of his face, his irritation making itself known.]   whatever, just play it.
