Out of respect for Daniel Howell and especially in accordance to the video he uploaded recently titled “Basically I’m Gay,” I have unpublished my “poop fic.” Maybe it doesn’t make much difference what I do with my fic NOW since damage has already been created by all kinds of fanfiction and other content that was spread without the consent of Dan, leading him to feel invaded of his personal feelings associated with his private life, (which we shouldn’t skew to fit our fantasies) but I want to make a point. Even if my fic was a joke, (terrible humor, at that) it still brings a lot of discomfort. Like Dan said, things change with time and while it was “funny” to me 4 years ago, I have changed. I fully support Dan and I am so proud of him for what he’s shared with us. I hope we can be respectful in response. Don’t just HEAR the message, LISTEN to it, and stop indulging in things that can make someone uncomfortable even if it satisfies your own needs. While such things don’t seem serious to our own selves, they can seriously hurt others, even if they’re not direct. Let’s continue to open our minds like this ❤️
