klaus is kept on a rather short leash around hydra . he's typically kept on the brink of starvation , only allowed adequate amounts of food about a month before his mission .
after long periods of starvation to ensure his strength is almost nonexistent , he is allowed out into the real world . he even has a small apartment within new york that is all his to stay at when he's given a small amount of freedom . however , he is kept under close supervision , never allowed a moment of privacy , and his neighbour is another hydra operative who will ensure he's not ever considering escape .
when given actual food and allowed to participate in basic self care , he is locked away in a cell within a hydra facility . he's also heavily guarded within these periods .

/ ngl i imagine shield knows of niklaus but they don't really pay him much mind ?? i mean , typically the man is starving and sickly as all hell , so he doesn't pose much threat . they'll send agents to check up on him , but it isn't until he disappears that he becomes a real threat .
they've attempted to monitor the patterns that occur before his disappearances to see if they can stop them before they occur , but often times things are far too sporadic to ever really make any assumptions about .
certain , more kind hearted agents have even attempted to give klaus food and other things to sustain himself more healthily to see if that might help things but ...
he's always quick to throw it out , far too worried hydra might see it as attempts to escape and double down on his security . god forbid they ban him from going outside .

MUTATION .
⠀officially , niklaus’ mutation is known as tentacle manifestation . his body is essentially created by tentacle - esque appendages that he has full control of , and the appendages look specially like https://pin.it/5fEomeb ( specifically a , the appendages without the glowing ends ) . while his body may appear normal a majority of the time , he is able to extend his limbs into these masses of tentacles in order to create enhanced biological weapons .
⠀these tentacles have extreme regeneration abilities , making it incredibly difficult to give niklaus injuries that will not be healed within mere minutes . due to the way his anatomy was created , his strength is far beyond that found in regular humans . niklaus is able to break off his own appendages to lay down traps made from the tentacles , however these are only active for twenty minutes before the appendages rot away due to the fact they are not connected to his body .

INTRODUCTION .
⠀meet niklaus kriska , a mutant taken in by hydra … albeit , he didn’t have much choice in the matter . after all , they were the only ones who ever showed the smallest bit of kindness to him … how could he deny the offer to join their ranks ?
⠀shunned from society , he had no where else to go . no one to turn to , no hope of ever being a normal person . at that time , he hadn’t known of the sanctuary for people like him . all he knew was humans hatred for mutants , all he knew was that he could never put his guard down . humans were monsters who couldn’t handle being around something new . but hydra … they were different . they didn’t make him feel disgusting for abilities he couldn’t control , no . they made him feel powerful for the first time in his life , and they promised to never betray him .
⠀they lied . people always lie , it seems to be the only thing they’re good at . when hydra lured hi, into their facilities with empty promises , he followed them blindly . he was so young and so naive . and now , he pays greatly for that choice .
⠀niklaus is their newest soldier , one not artificially made . his mutation was enough for them , and now they send him out to do their dirty work . if he dares disobey his orders , the doctors who have been given the responsibility to supervise him will make him regret the decision to ever even think that rebellion could end up in any way beside pain .
⠀any hope of freedom that he may have ever had has all been destroyed right before his very own eyes .
