Last Wish



When I die, bury me in a simple grave

so people may pass by

without pausing to admire a tomb

and wonder who lies in there.



Bury me in the sod

where the grass grows green

and the wild plants yield their blossoms

to the sun and the passing rain.



I've no need of monuments

let my body decay

with the soil and the elements.

Let me be gone... and forgotten.
