One thing I have seen tho, maybe not recently, recently, but within the last few years is the main character and friends will be on the lighter spectrum and the first dark skin the book introduces is supposed to be the ghetto, hood rat, thirsty hoe. Like why didn’t you keep the light skin thing going?? And I’m not dark skin I’m probably like the same color as Jayda Wayda, BUT imma still call colorism how I see it, I also call it out when I feel like ppl are reaching about it

The "colorism" on here used to be so insane, like I remember when I first started reading on here finding a book with a fully black, brown/dark skinned main girl character was a relief. We really used to be in the comments like finallyyy not a mixed girl. Even when they would use a light skinned but fully black face claim they would still claim they were mixed with 5 things, can't forget gray eyes. I'm just glad we were released from them shackles. It doesn’t bother me anymore cause they’re not claiming that their clearly black character is mixed, and it doesn’t seem intentional, ya know?
