"Sorry," Oriane apologizes meekly while closing the door behind her. "I don't mean to interrupt."
"Your stuff's in here, isn't it?"
Unsure, Oriane glances around the room until she finds her trunk at the end of one of the beds, waiting for her on the floor. "Yeah. Yeah, I guess it is."
"Then you're not interrupting," she assures with a smile.
"No way," one of the other girls interrupts. Already, Oriane can note a thick Scottish accent. She beams at her with glossy hazel eyes as she toys with the end of her ponytail. "You're—what was your name again?—Morisson? Morry… The hatstall, right?"
"Jeez, Cali, she's got a real name."
Tense laughter bleeds past Oriane's lips. "It's Oriane Morissette. But, everyone just calls me Ori."
"Aye," the Scot recognizes. "I was mixing your first and last names together… Morry… Ori…"
Rolling her eyes, the girl with fiery hair closes the distance between her and Oriane with her hand outstretched—formal, polite. "Don't mind her antics. I'm Emerald. It's good to finally have someone here to fill that empty bed so Calista can stop dumping her crap on there."
"Says you," Calista chimes in.
Something clatters to the ground, sowing silence in the room as everyone turns to find another girl—the last of Oriane's roommates—crouching to pick up a composition notebook. Her short cropped bob falls in front of her face, something she quickly remedies with a harsh exhale to get the strands out of her mouth. Amber eyes pierce through the room as the girl realizes how many eyes are on her.
"Don't stop on my account," the girl dismisses with a wave before returning her attention to the items carefully organized on her bed.
"We were introducing ourselves to our new roommate," Emerald explains. "This is Ori."
"Yeah, I heard her the first time." As if recognizing the harshness in her tone, the girl pauses. Enervation hangs heavy below her eyes; heavy enough to seep into the smile she attempts to share. "I'm Charlie. It's good to meet you."

ah, i see what you all mean by the updates thing now. how lame. you give us unwanted insight into everyone's actions on this site but not the ability to privately talk to our friends? (or rather, took away the ability to do so)
anyway, working on the next chapter of ROH and am excited and hoping to get it up next week (:

@ichorking for me I'd rather just go through people's reading lists LMAO I hate that it pops up first. Its just kinda in the way I wish you could disable it And lol don't worry about it!! Class comes first!

@ichorking personally, I do actually enjoy the social feed. Back in the day (gods I feel old saying this), there used to be a version of it on this website and it’s how I found most of what I read. It was lowkey devastating when they took it away because the tagging system here is trash and I’d much rather read things that people I know with the same interests as me are reading. but also yes, they need to bring back DMs and I swear I’m going to catch up on ROH when my classwork dies down a bit..
