Hi guys, this is quite important so I'd appreciate if you read this.
If you didn't know already, ViacomCBS has announced its partnership with Wattpad, using the website to mine for stories to adapt into original series for streaming services like Paramount Plus.
The ViacomCBS deal allows ViacomCBS to look through Wattpad stories and pick whenever one they want, then use it however (quite possibly in an exploitative manner).
It is due to this reason that I have chosen to unpublish my books on here FOR NOW as I decide how and where I'm going to relocate. It's sad that this has happened so shortly after I reached 10k reads, and I am infinitely grateful to my audience here. I will still be on Wattpad to read & support my friends, etc, but my personal experiences with this app haven't been the best. My work has been constantly undermined and discredited, people have said how I'm not deserving of the reads I have, criticising my plots and "mediocre" writing, etc... just a lot of toxicity and generally not a positive environment to write in.
Please don't mistake this to be a note of bitterness - I cannot possibly express my infinite gratitude towards you. Let me reassure you that Thirst will most definitely be available to read online very soon, alongside the other projects I have been planning for so long. These books mean so much more to me so there's no way I'm abandoning them, I have all my original works saved (though Thirst is currently undergoing serious editing to help fix minor plot holes).
I am someone who takes my writing very seriously, and it is a passion of mine which certainly won't be supressed because of a platform's trade, or pathetic people who have their own underlying insecurities and confidence issues.
I urge you to follow my Instagram account if you don't already for more updates and to keep in touch. Nothing but love and gratitude from me.
Stay safe in these most difficult of times, drink plenty of water, put yourself first.
Your Ria.
