What I do is I daydream a lot and I imagine myself in a situation or other people in a situation and sometimes I add real life situations to my books if they're interesting enough and sometimes I change it up a bit and a cliffhanger is always fun to add and plus if you run out of ideas in the middle of writing just come up with a cliffhanger. Just have fun with it and see how it goes :)
