To everyone's surprise, the notorious Sweeney Todd and his accomplice Nellie Lovett never died! Both of their deaths were actually faked, and all part of an elaborate plan to help them both escape London forever.
Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lovett were caught leaving London after a serial killing in which they were accused being leaders in. Their original plan was to escape, then go their separate ways. But as a result of getting caught, they would have to spend more time together than planned. Sweeney is not happy about this after all, Nellie did trick him into thinking his one true love committed suicide. When in reality, he ended up killing his wife on accident.
The duo was tried, but the court had no proper evidence to convict them. Although, as a result of their many medical exams, they were soon turned over to a local psychiatric ward, Lucy Grace Mental institution was chosen. They soon discover the lead psychologist is no other than Judge Turpin. The same man who exiled him for fifteen years, brought his wife to insanity, and tried to marry his only daughter-whom Turpin had adopted many years ago. The security staff also turned out to have been another person from Sweeney, and Nellie's past; Beadle Bamford.
Turpin and Beadle never were murdered either. Sweeney simply made a mistake, and took the lives of the wrong people. Although, in a twist of fate, everyone's past starts coming out in ways no one ever dreamed possible. Nellie's childhood, Sweeney's desire for his wife are told. As well as a secret relationship between Turpin and Beadle.
