Though not bound by blood, he was close enough to be considered part of the family, and also to witness the arrival of their young daughter sixteen years ago. When they crossed the gates of the restaurant with a swaddled bundle against her mother's bosom, he'd take her carefully in his own arms, rocking her with a care he had only employed in exorbitant wine cups. He never bore children of his own, so it was the closest he had to one, hence her loss had shaken him so much at the time. He couldn't imagine how it must've shaken them. 
          
          "It's been hard to move on, hasn't it?" 
          
          Nami looked up from where one of the waiters was pouring her wine. "A little." She smiled, but it didn't reach any of both's eyes. "I mean, we only had her for three years before... b-before..."
          
          Her grip on her cup tightened, Sanji's throat did the same. He shouldn't have brought that up.

"You guessed it!" The presenter must've had climbed onto his desk, speaking with more and more enthusiasm. "It belongs to our charming, chivalrous, heroic, well-built, gifted, charming— wait, did I say charming twice? Oh, screw it, that's how much it's worth!" 
          
          Women drooled like rabid dogs, going feral in ways straight from the security staff's worst nightmares.
          
          "Ladies and gentlemen... give it up to our host…”

          Tajio swallowed hard, tasting blood. "...Queen... Pirate Queen... ma'am." 
          
          Nami's lips curled into a condescending smile. "Good boy." She removed her heel and allowed him to stand up. "And remember this: next time you come around, telling me what to do... know that my husband could and would kill you right here. Right, Luffy?"

hey gng, js telling you that the upcoming chapter will be quite lengthy (more than i expected….) so it’ll be separated into two parts; ‘happiness’ and ‘out of the blue’, as it was advertised in the sneak peeks.
          
          i’m almost done with the drafting, and now i assume it’s safe to say that at least for now, i’ll be posting each chapter within a period of two weeks (i hope i worded it well…) thanks for all of your support so far!!

It had been a while since she last knew about most of her crewmates. Most, because they were heading to visit one right now. After achieving their own ambitions, they had gone their separate ways. She understood. Yet sometimes, she could still hear pep talks to Chopper while they read near the railing, or the clanking of Franky's tools while Usopp yelled in the background. Brook's violin carrying smooth tunes across the Sunny, or Zoro and Sanji's endless bickering. And speaking of the latter:
          
          "Nami, how much longer 'till we see Sanji?!" Luffy's voice, muffled by the collar of his shirt between his nose and upper lip yelled. "We're almost there." She assured, verifying with her Eternal Pose. "Try not to wrinkle your shirt, it took me forever to iron it!" 
          
          "No promises, shishishi!" 
          
          "I might just throw you at sea one of these days..." 
          
          She wouldn't.

Or well, maybe not. He would also carry her on his shoulders, or hold her hand when she was scared. When she doubted herself, he was always there to remind her how strong she was —a fuel to leave her opponents shaking in their boots from messing with the wrong woman. He took her around the world so she could fulfill her dream of writing and publishing the first ever world map, that has now become a fundamental tool for navigation. Let her spend his treasure however she liked, from expensive creams to conceal her aging or the finest garments from the bestest brands. With him, every day was nothing short of breathtaking sights and thrilling experiences. 
          
          But they weren’t young anymore.
