I’m tired of people saying my story is heterosexual without taking the time to really analyze, read, or anticipate the plot. I wanted to write a lesbian character with internalized homophobia as realistically as possible.

If you think Kate is straight because of the way she thinks about men or acts around them, it’s only because you haven’t seen how I write real chemistry yet! How I write real interest, obsession, or love.

Read between the lines !!! Someone “likes” a guy but every time she thinks about getting back with him, it’s mostly to get close to his girlfriend!!!

No, I didn’t want to write yet another WLW story where everything is obvious from chapter one. And i wanted a TRUE ennemies to lovers and a slow burn between the REAL protagonist. And I did want to attract people who love WLW, because that’s exactly what this is. And no, I’m not changing that!

If you disagree with the idea of a lesbian dating men after coming out, I get it, but a lot of you were in the closet BEFORE or went through comphet. For those who don’t know, “comphet” means compulsory heterosexuality : the idea that society pushes women to think they’re straight, even when they’re not.

The book is written in first person, so being inside the head of someone who’s in denial about something also means missing certain details, because she subconsciously doesn’t pay attention to them. But the signs are there, and if you weren’t so heteronormative, you might realize that a woman who doesn’t even want a man to touch her, and who looks at the girl first when she gets cheated on by that same man, might not actually be straight after all. (It kills me to have to explain all this when it would’ve become obvious naturally as the chapters went on.)

Ekaterina was raised in one of the most homophobic countries at times, in Russia, and if you read the story, you’ll see there’s homophobia in her family. Read!!! And read properly. Thank you

@impostor_21 I am in love with this book. Your writing is amazing and I'm so glad that I got to read this slow burn. And internalised homophobia is so real and you are doing an amazing job to portray this in the book. Can't wait to read more. Much love

@skrt127 I understand them because I know there’s a lot of queerbaiting in literature and in movies, and I hate it too. But I really have no reason to call a story WLW if it isn’t. I guess it’s my first time sharing with all of you, and they couldn’t have known that. Thank you for reassuring me and for taking the time to reply❤️
