@vilevirology kaneki shook his head at this , before taking out a small gift and holding out with both hands 「 it’s not much , but please accept this as a token of gratitude . 」 he knew that birkin had likely taken care of most of the work whenever wesker went out to see him , in that sense kaneki felt bad for inconveniencing the man . all the more reason to bring him a treat from tokyo , an apology but also a gesture of good faith . birkin was like family to wesker , it was only natural that kaneki view him in a similar way .
no one else gets things done around here. i have to take matters into my own hands. especially when wesker is preoccupied. ⁽ it was probably a reason the pair had bonded. they were one in the same. but when he said he came to thank him he paused. ⁾ thank me.ᐣ well.. i don't think it's worth thanking me for. he has my back as much as i have his.

@vilevirology 「 perhaps it’s a good thing to not always be tied to work , it must be exhausting . 」kaneki replied simply . honestly birkin reminded him of wesker when they first met , stubborn and rude ; it was a good thing he wasn’t necessarily bothered by those kinds of traits . 「 of course , he told me that . actually i came to thank you , for looking out for him all this time . 」he offered a small smile , a genuine one despite how tense birkin was trying to make the situation .

Just stay out of my way.”

@uroborosstar even with his mask on his only visible eye could show his irritation plainly . he was embarrassed that wesker even thought he needed protecting in such a way 「 i’m completely rational . have you considered you’re the one who’s being irrational ? 」 he made the effort to move past the other man stubbornly , yet another clear sign that he was more upset than he was letting on .

⁽ a sliver case withholding a variety of items is placed down, as the man seats himself. tucked away slightly while he is vulnerable. with a click the case is opened and he begins to sift through it's contents. ⁾
@uroborosstar 「 proper english ? who knew a murderer would be so closed minded ? 」he replied sarcastically , he didn’t seem all that phased by his insult . it was odd but kaneki felt almost . . . safe here . not just because of the available places to hide away , there was a comforting sense of familiarity in their banter no matter how brief . kaneki never went out of his way to provoke wesker , it was like the other man said , he would simply linger and climb about , sleep wasn’t necessary and yet he would do it wherever he saw fit .
no, you haven't given me a reason to, you merely linger. there's no harm in that. aside from the occasional getting on my nerves. ⁽ was this true.ᐣ with wesker it was hard to tell as the way he conducted himself appeared calm, he never truly got worked up. even if he was in a fight he still was slow to anger. ⁾ if your definition of lecturing means speaking in proper english, then yes.

@-biohazardz 「 it’s not murder . . it’s hunting . 」kaneki has been going through a cycle of starvation , every time he ate he was never full . he was smart enough to know that he wasn’t going to risk a rebellion against an entity he knew nothing about . 「 don’t thank me . when you see me again i’ll need to eat , i’m a monster . 」his response was blunt but it was the truth . he’d lose control of himself , he would gut the man with no mercy and feast on his innards just like he’d done to many others . the way he viewed it he was simply respecting the natural order of things , it was kill or be killed .

@-biohazardz 「 isn’t that exactly what this place is ? hell ? 」kaneki asked simply , there was little point in sugar coating it , ever since coming here it was like he’d get completely lost to his hunger and feel the agony of his torture . being able to see someone for what they were : a person , was a rare moment of clarity from the ghoul . 「 i won’t hurt you . this isn’t a trial . 」he concluded , almost to himself as his kagune fully retracted , sliding back into his body slowly .
